What are the joys of getting older?

You will know when you are getting some age on you when you are bent over lacing your boots and while you are down there you also look for whatever else it is you can do while you are down. OR, you stop to think a bit about what else you can do or get while you are down at the other barn...

Just wanted an opinion on these calves

That is a dandy heifer calf. The Lowlines seem to work well on many kind of cows. Their so wound up that when some of those genteic are released in such a way that you have done. Boom! In their shows, you can show 1/2 bloods. They are all thrown together from 1/2 bloods thru Purebreds. Then they...

    age of herd bulls

Trich tested, semen tested, 95%, good on his feet and legs and come from a smaller herd so he hasn't just worked his pants off but they are also scared of a feed bucket. I already own catttle out of that herd so from you all's comments it's a go ahead. Thanks

    age of herd bulls

Just found a herd bull that I have been wanting to use. He is 7 years old. What do you all think about that? He is in good shape and sound has the pedigree I have been looking for. Should I be afraid of kicking him out with cows to clean up behind my rather poor AI program?  <beer>

    c-section effect flushing?

This thread is better than reading the Sunday morning funnies! Now, I have yet read the apoligy from aj to Ron and expect to see it. Next, I question as to how big a man aj is if he was not hiding behind a computer screen. That is all I have to say! Ron, keep us up-to-date on Tina's calving...

    scrotal measurements

There are those more round ones and then the more elongated I guess. Some ole timer told me one time that the longer ones was where the milk was in his daughters?

    Aluminum Grooming Chutes

Ron, when you are making your longer chute, go ahead and make me a shorter one for the little ones. Your show staff should be increasing in numbers here before long shouldn't it? <beer>

    scrotal measurements

I have always been a big fan of big scrotal measurements. And the comment of them not being able to suck 'um up in the cold is not quite what I have experienced. I have worried enough about that with no reason come time to semen check.  <beer> The big nutted ones are the first ones to check good...

    A Caring Reminder......Local Man Killed....

Looked what happened to Scott Downing and he is quite the cattleman. He is one of the lucky ones to still be with us.

    My new show calf (pics).

I invite anyone to go thru a veal farm in Europe. Only then will one see that these kind of cattle go thru for so little. IMO, not good!

Good to hear Matt. Sounds like you all got it together and ready! Nothing better than the kids getting something nice other than just a piece of junk they don't even want to take to the house. Look forward to meeting you and hope you and Zack can but heads in the % thing.

black bull on a soild white horn?

Lets all not forget all the foxes that are in or have been in the hen house. We all know they are there and have been! Some have just sliped thru without question because of who the owner is/was or that the breeders in that breed thought that this was something that the breed needed.

black bull on a soild white horn?

Yeah, I know about the Charolais thing and the Simmi thing and black but didn't know what about the Horns. That is why I am asking the experts! <beer>

black bull on a soild white horn?

Bred a soild white horn heifer this morning to a Lowline bull. Then thought! Don't really want any greys. Her sire and dam are both colored up pretty good. What should I expect? I know horns are like Christmas but don't know how this works and know you Shorthorn guys can help with this.
