cool roan caf - looks like hed be usefull

Original post and some replies on 27th--today is 28th.  What does the wind have to do with anything?  Either you think he is good or you don't.  If you aren't sure, cut him and sell him as a steer.  Might not make as much as if he became the next great sire, but the chance of losing a lot of...

    country preacher n/c

Country  Preacher An  old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting  time the boy should give some thought to choosing a  profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't  really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too  concerned about it. One day, while the...

Angus nominations for the bull bracket

I noticed that nobody has mentioned Precision 1680.  Genetic defect or not he is in a  lot of pedigrees.  If that is why nobody had nominated him that is fine, I just noticed that genetic defects don't seem to be a problem in some of the other categories.  Just an observation.

Thanks for the info.  Is there a selection commitee that picks the steers or do the breeders pick which ones they send?

    Steer opinions

Can you educate us on how the Florida State Fair steer show is run?  Are all of the steers provided for the participants?  Who provides them?  What is the system used to determine who gets a steer and what steer they get?  Are there certain weights that they cannot be over/under at the weigh...

It sounds like you are making progress.  Keep up what you are doing as it seems you are gaining his trust.  Introduce new people slowly and make it a good experience for him.  Patience will be your friend in this case. Good luck and keep us posted. (thumbsup)

Is there still a Chiford program? From the Chi websight Chiford- ACA cattle known as “Chiford” are eligible for registration based upon *any mating between Fullblood Chianina, Chiford, Hereford, or Polled Hereford, registered with the American Hereford Association The way I read that is...

    Hereford Heifer Opinions

I just figured that if I got her sold that I would just come and bunk with the boys at your house! You have room in the barn for my hereford/lowline crosses don't you?

    Hereford Heifer Opinions

I like her.  Put a price on her that you would be happy with if she sold.  If she doesn't bring that then keep her.  Everything on this place is for sale at the right price.  (Including my wife ;D).  A good cow family is worth a lot.  You know this cow family. That is what I would do for what...

Vogel Family Shorthorns Ad in SC

Great looking cattle and add, just one thought.  I look at so many adds that I cannot remember where everyone is from and I wish everyone would put their city and state in the add.  Many times I have to google the farm or look it up some other way.  Again, great looking cattle.

    Registration

If I interpret your post correctly the bull is question is a hereford/angus cross.  If this is the case then no, the bull cannot be registered with either the hereford or angus associations as neither have a percentage program.  You could breed him to a purebred cow of a breed that does...

Anyone going to Jr. Nat. in Tulsa??

Herefords were in KC last year a week or two after the Maines, Horns and Chi's.  Not saying that they are not going  back that soon, but is seems kind of odd. Jill, I will set you up with some Herfs! ;D

What should we show her as?

You could show her as a market heifer or how tough is the commercial division where you show?  Just because you have papers doesn't mean you have to use them.
