As of right now the way the ET calves look, we're planning on taking them to Iowa and Nebraska (open shows, my sis and I are too old for 4-H).  We might hit up a few more if there is time.

In the past for our 4-H feeder calves, we gave them some of our show feed we had for our breeding heifers during the day. I didn't know if there was a great feed out there that puts a little more condition on them. Thanks CAB.

We had a cow give 20 no. 1's in her first flush, and the second one gave only 4 no. 1's. We got both ends of the spectrum there.

I know it's a little early to bring this up, but what do you feed your calves that are still on mom for show?  The way some of our calves are looking now, we will be taking them to some state fairs (just calves, not cow-calf pairs). So what do you give them to help make them "bloom" and...

We used HXC Conquest, didn't get sexed semen though.  His calves look good, but they aren't the standouts.

If you look in the calf pictures thread I put a picture of one of our Fat Tony heifers up.

Take a look at Northline Fat Tony.  We have 8 ET calves out of him and 4 natural calves, they are all thick, deep, and have good bone.  Unless they've updated his EPDs recently, he's got a really low BW.

Anyone know the semen price on LCC Heaven or Bust 1000B?  Or possibly where I could find some?

I was supposed to go, but a heifer I bought is due.  So the fam packed up and left me behind.

I have a friend who shows dairy cattle all over, he goes through a few cases on show day.  I'm sure not all of it goes to the cattle either. :)

We use a brass iron for freeze branding.  We have both black and red hided animals, and use nitrogen for branding.  We shave, blow off the dirt and hair, spray alcohol on the hide, and then hold the brand for 30-45 seconds.

Same here, worst steer I ever had.  I also had the wonderful opportunity to work with a Full Throttle cow who had some health issues, couldn't let her out of your sight at all times.
