Been having trouble keeping the fly's at bay in the barn, they're starting to really bug the cattle. Anyone have tips/tricks to help with flies? I am currently using strips and traps then spraying the steers down with a general fly spray. Also some of the people in the barn sprinkle some red...

Does anybody use Tifton 85 or Tifton 9? I have heard of people using it for show cattle because of the higher digestibility and higher protein. Supposedly without the side effects like when feeding Alfalfa. Have any of you heard about it or use it? Is it worth it? Does it affect the cattle...

Do you rinse him? We have found that if they're not eating it can be as simple as rinsing them a few minutes before you put out their feed. Or sprinkle some Calf-Manna Nurse All on the feed. (don't know why but it gets them to eat)

What two types of feed are there? What is the difference between a grower and a finisher? What is the normal respiration rate for a cow? What is the normal temperature of a cow?

A friend was telling me about a place in Bryan (I think he said Bryan, maybe Brenham) that works with show steers. They trim hooves, help you with what to feed, etc. Supposedly they do it all! And he said they have cooler rooms and things, but I forgot what it was called  ??? Anyone heard of it?

IMO they would be better if they had straighter top lines, more depth in the hind end (they're short and steep in the hind end), and be a little deeper in the flanks.
