    Thank you SP

I would like to echo what Vanridge has posted.  As well as a parent we spoke to alot of people that I would consider to be a great influence on my kids.  Especially a few young women who my daughters now think are the "coolest" people they know and I am fine with that.  Thanks for taking the...

Who will be at Agribition Nov. 22-24

From Nov 22-24 Vanridge and I will be at Agribition with our 4-H club.  Who will have cattle there and would be willing to help out with a "scavenger hunt"?  What I would like is to get an interesting fact from each farm that the only way to find out what it is is for the members to talk to...

    Thanks for the Tour

A big thank you to Okotoks and Coyote for showing us their cattle.  We had travelled for 9 days and had only seen a couple of Shorthorn cow in the pastures.  I was very happy to get to see so many good cattle and meet such great people.  <party> From Little Up The Creek

Should sale catalogs still be mailed out?

I still like to have a hard copy of the catalogue.  My kids and I spend many hours looking through them whether or not we plan on buying anything.

    Barley Hay?

It has been several years since I have had any experience with barley hay.  If my memory is right timing is critical, it is a very small window to make sure the grain is mature enough and before it becomes to course.  It works best if you can grind it.

Sun Country Shorthorn Bull Sale - Some Touchdown sons that sell.

It looks like it will be a good day for a road trip from Manitoba.  Congradulations to all the consignors, it looks like a fantastic group of bulls.  I am looking forward to a great sale!! <beer>

    Herd Bull Time

It would not make a very interesting post if I put up a picture of 3 different straws of semen, but I plan to use 3 bulls this yeaar by AI.  Shadybrook Scotty will be used on the heifers.  The others will get either Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M or Glenford Gus 4H.

Stupid cows what goes through their heads

When I was about 18 I was helping one of our neighbors haul cows to pasture and things were not going well.  He asked me if I knew why there were no cows in the circus.  I said I hadn't thought about it but did not know the answer.  His reply was that quote "they are too f*&%#@$ stupid".  I seem...

    Silage Users

I moved a large amount of silage several years ago here in MB.  It is best to move when the weather is cold and it will not re-pack.  Try to only move a 5-6 day supply at a time, it seemed to keep about that long before it spoiled.  Good Luck.
