What you think of her, 1/2 blood Simmy

Looks to be a good calf, nice width of base and looks to be straight in her lines already. Hard to tell much else from the pictures. Good calf!

    Maternal Charolais Bull

Definitely Gerrard Montezuma would be a good match! We have had good luck with DR Revelation, we Calved out three daughters this year and they had lots of milk and were good mothers. I haven't had good luck with LT Ledger, but others have.

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

I'll agree that 5 weeks is a little young...I like the black heifer, she has grown into herself well. The gray heifer has a lot of growing to do before I would consider buying her. Both good heifers though.

How do you think my daughters 1st show steer is coming along?

Great steer! My advice would be to pull the hair down around the flank to make it look more consistent as he is a touch weak flanked. Great job though!  (clapping)

    Calf that won't eat

I did what vcsf said and put the cow in with the feed tub. The cow ate the grain, the calf sniffed the feed and walked away. I then tied the calf and with no hay in front of her gave her some grain. She didn't touch the grain in the 2 and a half hours she was tied.

What do Charolais members remember about Charolais bull FR 31 ----

I had an Impair calf about 2 weeks ago off of a commercial Char cow. Nice calf, a little tall for the show ring maybe but will make a nice stocker if nothing else

What do Charolais members remember about Charolais bull FR 31 ----

My neighbour had a bull sired by him in the mid-90's, we used him on a couple cows that didn't catch AI. The only thing I really remember about the calves is that we pulled about 6 of my neighbours and both of the ones we had. They were 120+lbs calves. One of the neighbours ended up c-section...

    Calf that won't eat

She also has free run of a creep feeder all day with the same textured calf grain in it, she doesn't that at all (I have seen her in there though). I have always started calves at about this time in their growth, and 90% of the time they take to the grain right away, the other 10% get used to it...

    Calf that won't eat

She is pulled from her mother at 6am every day and tied until 8am. When she is tied I put 2nd cut hay and a dish with grain in it in front of her. She always finishes the hay but she doesn't touch the grain. I will try the oats tomorrow, I have tried corn and that didn't work either. I don't...

    Calf that won't eat

She is on the cow. I would simply like to start her on a grain ration as well. She is eating hay, milk and I would like to get her eating a small amount of grain as well. All of the other calves her age are eating the grain, but she isn't.

    Calf that won't eat

I've looked through this forum for advice and can't seem to find what I'm looking for or something I haven't already tried: I have a 2 month old heifer calf, she is mostly halter broke. I have been putting 18% calf starter in front of her everyday and she ate it the first day but since then she...

    Can't get calf to nurse...

Take a pea sized piece of a cow Asprin pill and make it swallow. This will make the calf hungry, I have had this work 8/10 times.
