We have had five calves either sired by bojo or out of bojo cows in the last couple years. All have had really bad structure at birth. Each calf is different in his problem but same concept. The hocks act like the tendons are not developed all the way. When they stand the legs hyper-extend in every direction at the joint. Sometimes the pasterns will stay bent over for longer than normal. Every calf so far has healed up snd been shown in the past. Any one else have this same trouble with bojo or other bulls( please list bull). Probably wont use any more bojo cause the calves have a lot of trouble getting up at birth.

We had this problem with one calf this year, not a Bojo, but clubby breeding.  Talked to our vet about it, and he said it could be a couple things:  Calf came early and wasn't fully developed, for whatever reason, may have come on due date and still not have been quite developed; pull or backwards calf put strain on tendons.  He said in a couple weeks you won't even notice, and he was right.  I don't however, think it is limited to the clubby cattle, I have an in-law that raises purebred cattle of various breeds, very successfully, and he said they have 10-12 that way every year, they just need a little more time to strengthen the muscles and tendons.  They calve out approximately 8-900/year.
