Is there still room for another blogger? Now that things are starting to slow down I have some free time on my hands again.

    Cattle lot help needed

We have a scoria base in all of our corrals. It doesn't make them completely dry, but it definitely helps when it gets muddy. Basically with enough crushed gravel you should be able to build up a decent base and have something workable.

    Could use some advise

One of the easiest ways is to put a bloat block out in his pen. It looks similar to a salt block, he'll lick it and the resulting mineral/biotic mixture will help to keep him from bloating. You should be able to find them at any farm supply stores.

TH is now a commercial problem

The last estimate I heard is that the Angus Association is estimating there are approx 2,000,000 (that's million) cows that could be potential CCS carriers.

    Bull to heifer Ratio

Had another heifer last night, and a bull this morning, so the ratio stays the same. I think the bull theory is interesting because we completely changed our herd bull battery over the last two years, which would mean that out of 8 sire groups (all natural service), a majority of them are...

    Simmi Bull

If a bulldog and a simmi cow mated, that's what I'd imagine the calves to look like :)

When you say timing of breeding - do you mean the order they're bred, or the time of the year they are bred?
