    cow wont breed

I have seen this and heard of mature cows not breeding back easy after being left open to long.  What seems to work the best is let a bull breed her naturally.  Then after she has that calf you can go ahead and get her bred artificially.

"SCHOOL of HARD KNOCKS"...Contribute if U Can!

Always makes me nervous also if they nurse. Started reaching from behind between their hind legs and feel the belly.  And you can tell if there is milk in them or not.  Also if the calf sucks my finger then i figure the calf hasnt nursed.  Cant do that on a couple cows or would be running to the...

sun seeker and jimmy the greek

Calves from 100 to 140 lbs have been going on for years.  Ever since full throttle was used.  I remember pulling alot of those big buggers and more than a few c sections.  Remember weighing alot of them and would take two people to lift them up to the hanging scale. I dont remember any of the...

    Heatwave sons

I saw a very nice hollywood heifer tonite out of a money talks cow.  She is a small framed cow.  Where i think hollywood works.  His calves seem to have a little  more frame than some of the other heat wave sons. Monopoly needs to be used on the bigger framed stouter cows from what i have seen...

"MY TURN" Information by Brad Hook.....please read.

I agree you need to have a couple cows like that to produce those steers and bulls that have the muscle.  She has the power yet she is smooth shouldered.  And even though she is a little short strided just have to know how to breed her. I sure wouldnt sell a cow like that because she has to...

That cow looks like she has a ton of power in her.  Little short strided but alot of muscle.

    calf won't suck

Saw this years ago.  It is a vitamin e and selinium defiency.  Give the calf a shot of bose or muse.

    Headliner birthweights

It is a known fact that heat wave's advertised birth weight is not accurate and he didnt come out the back of the cow either.  But they win the shows and that is wha people want to buy for show calves.

    Headliner birthweights

My monopoly's have all been between 85 to 115 lbs.  Two biggest ones 100 and 115 lbs using tape on feet were both born unassisted.  Only had to pull one out of seven.  And that cow never has them by herself.

    1st calf heifer not cleaning

In the past i would get some boluses from the vets also and put them inside the uterus to help from infections.  My vet says to use lutylase also to help the uterine contract.

Bred Heifer will not eat, losing weight and vet does not seem to know why

Pennicillin and banimine will work if it is foot rot.

    Smooth Sailing birthweights?

I havent used the bull but from talking to Kroupa i would say you bred him to the right kind of cow.  He told me to use  him on cows that full flush used to work on.  Deep bodied, square hipped.  Sorry dont know about birth weights.

    The Last Straw

I know of the top of my head i have some Texas Hold em that will never get used.  Only used one straw out of five.  Then there is some Black Pearl in there also.  Three straws of Hannibal.  Never had a calf out him with anything at my place.

    Matt Launter Online Sale

Very good point.  Price of semen doesnt concern me either as long as you use it on the right cows.  Glad i have 15 monopoly x full flush embryos in the tank for spring. Anything over $300 over market price it pays for itself.  And if they are any good should bring more than that.  Wish i had...

    Big Calves ?

Got my second Rodman angus calf on the way and just felt the feet and it is going to be 90 to 100 lbs again.  Second Rodman on a second calver and had to pull both.  He is definetely not a calving ease bull on anything that has a  little birthweight in them.  Last time i use a new bull on second...

    Heifer with hard quarter

I would say mastitis also.  If you tried milking it out and got nothing i would say that quarter is no good.  Probably happened a month ago when you noticed it.  Sorry hopefully she is a good milker.  I  have a couple cows that only have three teats and always raise a big calf.

    doctor who

Basically that is a no in my opinion.  I know of a family that bred Dr. Who to an angus heifer and had a 130 lb bull calf both heifer and calf was dead.  This was three years ago.  Seems everyone keeps asking about calving ease clubby bulls.  And there isnt such a thing.

    BREEDING QUESTION

My choice would be a proven calving ease angus bull.  And i mean proven not a new one that supposedly had a small birth weight and has a low epd.  Alot of those change after the first calf crop. You may get along great with witch dr but i would bet money you will have to pull it out of that...
