    Is it scours?

Got a bull calf will be 8 weeks old Thursday.  Been healthy as can be, today noticed he's got a white butt.  I've seen scours but they've always been the yucky green color.  Could it be scours?  Grass is coming on, so didn't know if maybe mom's milk is too rich.  Also, sometimes with horses if...

    BEB Juneau on Angus Heifers

Have heard good things about Juneau calves.  Don't know about clicking with OCC females, haven't researched that much. We had a angusx heifer this year that we put Power Design on, and couldn't be happier.  278 day gestation, great calving ease, up and sucking, and growing like a weed plus he's...

    shorthorn bull "ArSuLu Massive 3140"

We're going to use him this spring.  I called the owner to check on him, and was told he calves easy, and average weights are around 78 lbs.  Uses him on heifers every year. Looks like a good way to bring in some fresh genetics too.

    First Calf Ever!!!

We also had our first one, saturday night. A 55 lb. bull calf.  Power Design x Heatwave heifer - believe it or not she seems to have good enough milk for now. He's a cutie can't wait to see how he grows out!

    County Fair...by Baxter Black

I wish every parent and school board member would read this.  We lived in town till my son was 14.  We moved and he got into ag that year and followed it all the way through high school with our full support - we enjoyed it as much as he did.  The things he learned are so beyond high school -...

What are everone's opinions on this?

We struggled with that when our son was in ag in high school.  He had a decent heifer, but not one that would ever win big events although she'd usually do fairly well in local arenas.  Then we'd see these high dollar steers and heifers and it was hard, but he handled it well.  He worked his...

    almost time

We're trying not to bird dog her - but she's an ex show heifer, so she doesn't mind the attention much.  Keeping it down to checking a couple times a day till it looks like there's some real action.  But it is exciting - I  love the babies. Just ready to get the calf on the ground and see what...

    almost time

First time heifer, took a look this morning.  She's due March 15, but the baby has dropped - she has that slab-sided look on the right. Hips are just starting to sink a little, vulva's a little floppier than yesterday.  I'm guessing no longer than Sunday - what do all the steer planet experts...

    Weather in the Midwest?

Not as bad as the media would have you think.  Western OK got the worst of the ice and had the most of the power outages, but it's a lot better than the ice storm of Dec. '07. NE Ok got some ice, now snow, looking at around 6 inches probably. A whole lot better than we thought it was going to...

    Jakes Proud Jazz Daughter

We also have a shorthorn heifer, and have the same concerns. We are considering AR SU LU Massive 3140. His pedigree is not necessarily "clubby" but he's a decent looking bull and clean both ways.  I talked to one of the owners, and he's used on heifers every year.  Average birth weights are 78...

new here - angus sire question

Thanks, we tried to do our homework.  Good luck if you try him!  It'll be nice to see how the calf turns out. It's hard to be patient sometimes!

new here - angus sire question

I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to jump in.  I'm curious about angus sire K G Power Design, an older model bull.  We AI'd an ex-show heifer to him, due in March. EPD's look good, phenotype okay for her design.  Main concern is live calf and some maternal qualities if we get a...
