Toughest 2010 Midwest State Fair Steer Show

I'm probably a little biased, but judging by pictures and videos, I'd have to say the best steers i have seen the last few years have been at the Indiana Stat Fair.  A bunch of good ones end up finding homes in the Hoosier state and these guys can get one fed and lookin right!  And the heifer...

    Fitting

It's possible.  Jary Douglas judged the steer show at Indiana State Fair yesterday and today and commented a few times about steers being too "gooped up" and wanted one to look more natural.

    Aluminum stock trailers

We love our Wilson Foreman to death. Got a new 24' x 8' last year and it was the best investment we've made. Pulls like nothin's there, heavy duty and built to last.  And just to make it clear, ours is a workin trailer first and a show cattle trailer on the weekends. It's pulled plenty of HEAVY...

    Big Calves ?

I have to disagree with you on that one DTW.  I've pulled plenty of big calves out of feedlot heifers, some of em in unconventional ways.

Full Flush - Has his time come and gone?

I think part of his comeback could be because Friction semen is so high and there have ben a lot of fertility issues with Frictions.  I'm lookin pretty hard at usin Flush on some real soggy angus cows to make clubby mommas

    College Basketball Thread

Purdue's on top of the Big Ten (thanks Ohio State) and lookin like they'll be #3 in the nation this week after Nova lost two in a row last week.  Saturday could get interesting with Michigan State comin to Mackey Arena.  All I can say is BOILER UP!!

    Thriller pic

They don't picture them in the catalog or advertise the new clubby bulls very much until they actually collect.....Walks Alone and Bojo last year for example.

    Fitting red cattle

The best I've found to fit a red one is to pull the leg with Prime Time, then put a VERY LIGHT shot of Tail Adhesive on em.  Using a light coat of tail glue won't show up as much as you think, and can actually build a leg more than you think.  And from what I've noticed recently, a little...

    Char cows and color

Rattails do feed out alright, but I'd hate to have a bunch of em runnin around come winter. Any of em that I've ben around are thin hided and haired and, even in southern Indiana, they sometimes can't take the cold like a good haired one.  We had a couple in a lot a few years back that were in...

    2010 display bulls

Just got back from Denver.  I found a couple of bulls that would probably fit my program.... Smilin' Bob -- Really liked how stout he was, and the fact that he looked like he would have some grow in him. Probably the thickest bull there but wasn't terribly big shouldered Nasty Habit -- Thought...

Picture:Denver Display Bull-Who has the Best Display Bulls going to Denver?????

Most of the Trademarks I have been around have been sound, soft, and plenty stout, both bulls and females.  Some have a little extra leather up front, but nothing out of the ordinary for a simmi.  The 6807 cow is a purebred.  I know the person who bred and raised the Trendsetter, and when he...

    Hay Saver Feeders

I have to agree with the J&L Haysavers.  We have several round bale feeders in our feedlot and pastures and the J&Ls blow everything out of the water as far as material savings per bale. They are virtually indestructable and even feedlot cattle will not waste hay if you use these feeders. The...

Sexed Semen on Steer Bulls Like Heatwave

semen on any bull has to be REALLY GOOD quality before a semen distributor will run it through the sexing process.  hence, many club calf bulls are not available with the sexed semen option. i know hollywood has been offered, as well as the Money Talks bull a couple years ago. generally, semen...

    Frame Size of Sunseeker Steers

From what I've seen and heard, the Sunseekers will follow the frame size of the cow.  Had one last year out of a BIG maine cow, fed the crap out of him when he was little trying to burn the grow out of him, and he still weighed 1400 when he hit the truck to Tyson.  I personally won't use him on...
