    ASK OLDHORN A QUESTION

Aaron, The technology was developed in the early 60's. Here is the opening paragraph from an article by W.P. Garrigus in the 1963 Shorthorn World herd bull edition. "The use of ultrasonics for evauating meatiness in live animals is passing out of the research phase and becoming a useful tool for...

    Shorty hf bulls

Dan, I have used BioPRYN blood testing for the past 3 years now, with excellent results. They claim better than 99% accuracy. I just pull a couple ml of blood from the tail vein when I gather for weaning and mail it in. I started doing this when the Vet called one of my best older cows "open". I...

    Ramrod progeny pictures for Redbulls

Thanks TGIB. I expected them to be good and I am sure not disappointed! Like Trevor said "masculine bulls and feminine heifers"! I will be in touch. Thanks again!

    Shorty hf bulls

I fully agree! I have some females in my herd that were bred by Okotoks that I'm pleased with also.

    Shorty hf bulls

I just realized that I created 2 different log-ins!  I'm not sure how to get rid of the " #2 " one, other than just not use it. TGIB- there's no hurry on the pictures. I just like to be careful about cow's udders, as I'm sure you are. Thanks!

    Shoshone Angus

Dan- Thanks for doing this. My apologies for getting away from the original Shoshone Angus Topic! Thairs is a program I greatly admire. I sent you another view of "Dover" (DRC 101VM) as a three year old from the rear, as well as some of our Dover influenced females. Thanks again.

    Shoshone Angus

The bull DRC 101VM "Dover" recovered from his frozen testicles and is servicing cows for Chad Ennis (Shady Maple) in Indiana. Semen is available again. The reason I was able to get him registered when I bought him as a calf is due to the fact that Dover Sindelar keeps such  great records as to...

    Shorty hf bulls

JIT or Okotoks. What do you guys know about an old Wise bred bull named Boa Kae Royal Oak? Dan-your Prophesy bull looks good. Let me know when you have semen available.

    Saskvalley Bonanza 219M

I used Bonanza last year. I have been very pleased with the results. I took these photos last night. I had just turned a set of cows into a new pasture on Saturday, so there is plenty of grass. I don't creep feed. The pasture they had just come off of was getting pretty short. This is YY...

    Shorthorn bull "Dover"

I just ran across this post and thought I would contribute an update. Also, I appreciate the positive comments. During the extremely cold North Dakota winter of 2009, DRC 101VM (Dover) suffered a severely frozen scrotum. Derek had several semen tests done on him in the Spring and was told by...
