    BC Lookout

Have 3 on ground out of a Simmi donor. Small at birth mid 70's, right shape. Calves don't look like much till they get older than "wow" . Downside is the calves could have a bit more bone.

    6 dollar corn

This is just my take on it, but every thing cycles around and I think the cattle industry is in for at least 3 years of tough sledding.  The scary thing for me is that you will have the same profit at $6.00 that you had at $4.00 because the input side has already caught up  ( was told by the...

    The Maine Bull Bouncer?

Had my first Bouncer calves this past spring. I agree that his calves grow really well and have good temperament. I used him on older cows that were a little tight in their rib and flank . The calves are saleable, only have one bull left and he is bound for a show/sale this winter.

    Heat detection

Joe, I use a combonation of methods.  Visual 4 x a day for 30 min. each time, with 60 cow i catch 50% in heat.  If there are a few really good cows i haven't caught I give them a shot of lutalyse and put a K-mar on.  I still have a problem with the cows that aren't aggressive with their heat signs.

Every few days I would increase the silage...

    ground corn stalks

Hi all.  I have never posted before, but thought I could be of some help here. First is it Gluten or Wet Distillers?  They are a little different.  The ground cornstocks are a good idea, they will work well with either product. The high moisture content of Gluten will make the stalks more...
