    Help - please !!!!

Very well said, twistedhshowstock.  I agree with all of your points! More than anything, if everyone knows where they stand, there is less of a chance to ruin a good friendship. I am a firm believer in "getting it in writing".

    Help - please !!!!

I do not have insurance on any of my livestock, so my question is where do you purchase this insurance from?  The name of the company, or can you add it to your farm policy? Thanks for the suggestion!

    Help - please !!!!

A friend of mine wants to borrow my bull for a few months to breed his cows. I do not need him right now, and quite honestly, would like to get him off the feed bill for a couple months. What I would like to know is how other people handle it when they allow someone to use their bull. He is not...

    Jakes Proud Jazz

We have used him on several of our heifers without any problem.  Calves are usually small and healthy. Good luck!

    Advice needed!!!

We have a small field- 24 acres - that did not produce anything this year due to the drought.  We have had some rain in the last few weeks and I am trying to think of something we can plant that might provide some forage for fall/winter grazing.  Does anyone have any idea what would be good? ...

What do you think of this song? N/C

I have never heard this song on the radio.  Probably never will... (angel) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiYgpPB1kwU

    Ground Zero Ceremony N/C

WOW! Does that ever hit the nail on the head! It is nice to hear someone not afraid to "call a spade a spade".  Thanks for the link! Just my humble opinion, but what a slap in the face to all the first responders not to be allowed to attend. Anyone who knows a firefighter knows that they lost...

    Showing a Shorthorn Steer

He looks really good! I like his neck, clean front and appears to have plenty of muscle. I think you will do well with him! (clapping)

    injection site reaction

GatorMom- I have used tetradure on my cattle as well, and it can leave a large knot on the neck. It is an excellent, long lasting antibiotic though. All the knots that we have had on our cattle's neck have resoved on their own over time. You might want to check with your vet, but I would just...

    Showing a Shorthorn Steer

ShowSteerGirl101 - You have picked a great breed for a first year project as far as I am concerned! Hopefully he is gentle and halter broke. Genetics will play a big part in how tall your steer grows, but good feed and hay are very important. Is there a local 4-H Club that you can join, or...

    Ground Zero Ceremony N/C

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, so if they have, please disregard this subject. Does anyone else find it sad that clergy and first responders have not been invited to the Ground Zero ceremony, due to "not enough room"?  I bet there will be room for politicians. Seems to me that...

    Releif in Texas?

We baled over 250 round bales in our first and only cutting in the spring of 2010. We will not get a single bale this year, AND we have had to put hay out all summer because there is nothing to eat but dirt. To top it off, cattle cubes went from $10.50 to $11.25 over night. Sale barn here we come...

    Releif in Texas?

They are not even big round bales 4X5's.  Square bales of hay are going for $10.50 with a limit of 3! Cattle cubes (20%) are $10.50 for 50 lbs. The sale barns are so full I have heard that they have had to cut off the number of people bringing cattle in. On an up note, there are some awesome...

    Hernia Repair

We have had hernia repair done on two calves.  One calf was 2 weeks old and the other was about 1 1/2 months old. Both recovered without any problems.

    Releif in Texas?

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. We are close to San Antonio and have not had any rain in over a year. It is very sad to see ranchers who have dedicated their whole life to trying to keep good genetics in their herd, now faced with having to haul them to the sale barn because there is...

    Pregnancy blood testing

We use Biotracking and have never had a bad test. You can go to their website and there is a video that shows how to tail stick. It takes a little practice, but is relatively easy. Good luck!
