    TO BODY CLIP OR NOT

In the past we always slick shear all our replacements and cows. This year we are going to be slick shearing show cattle too. I think it makes them look fresher and saves a lot of time pulling dead hair out for the first part of the summer.

    Hair Supplements

Yes it does. But it takes many boxes.. I agree with everything above. I would like to add conditioner. It makes that hair much softer and healthier and allows it to grow faster in my opinion. We condition at least 3 times a week. Doesn't have to be anything fancy just the regular 75 cent stuff...

    Mud and Poop removal

WD-40. Works great. Soak the spots with it then comb them out.. works very well for us.

    Hereford Bulls to use?

Purple Currency is heifer safe too. But Tonic would be a better choice for heifers. We have Milsap and Purple Womanizer calves on the way and will be using a lot of Womanizer this summer with Kahuna doing the winning he is doing and will hopefully keep doing. Do you think About Time semen...

Need a little bigger rear- any advice?

Push the beet pulp or winning fill. I'm not sure if you do or not but we exercise our cattle on the hilliest part of our property. Might be kinda dumb but I like to think it works.

    Help! Bull after bull

I've always been told whatever your first calf of the year is that is what you will have the most of that year. - Seems to be true for us. Maybe its just a coincidence? (ofcourse our first calf this year was a bull. Last 3 years we have been really heavy on heifers tho. Almost 4 heifers:1 bull )

    Slick Shearing show cattle

I am wondering if anybody ever slick sheers their show cattle in march after its started to warm up? How fast does it grow back? I've heard of a few people doing this and they claim the hair comes in much nicer and its a lot easier to work with instead of trying to get the dead winter hair out...

    CRR About Time 743

I just saw in the new Genex catalog that About time died. Does anybody know what happened? He was a fairly young bull that was really getting popular last summer siring both sale toppers and national show winners. We used him very extensively last summer, breeding most of our first calf heifers...

    Opinions on market steer

I really really like this steer. He is very stout and has great hair it like from the picture. Just keep the hair coming in good and make sure hes in the right weight class and you should do pretty well this summer.

    Washing mix!

We mix half show sheen with a quarter lineament oil and a quarter with vinegar. Seems to work pretty well. Another thing we do that we have really noticed helps the hair is using hair conditioner when washing. It makes their hair a lot softer and just overall healthier we fell.

    Herefords

I think it kinda depends what age you are shooting for. If you are looking for a calf to compete at a state fair or a summer show my first stop would be purple reign cattle company in IL or Hoffman Ranch in NE. They both have raised numerous national winners in both the steer show and heifer...

    Herford Bull at NWSS

I saw him back in October in Kansas City and he looked really good there. I don't know if you could breed one to have any better genetics than him as far as polled. He might not be as thick as some others tho but he defiantly has the eye appeal. That's just my opinion from seeing him 3 months...

    Polygraph

He has sired some of the high selling steers at Carrousel's pasture sale the past two years. Most of them I have seen are very hairy, have a little white, and a lot of mass to them.

    Poll Hereford Bull

Good Good bone Good fronted Wide topped (from what i can see) Adequate growth and development Bad Too round in his hip for me Little slap sided Could use more body capacity. Needs more thickness Big shouldered This is just my opinion from what I can see in the picture.
