    grizzly calves

We've had  6 hit the ground. BW have not been bad 70-85#. 3 have been out of 1st calf heifers, one out of a Sunseeker heifer that had to be pulled. The other 2 heifers had them on there own. There young (less then 2 weeks old) but to be honest not as impressed as I was told they would look like...

    Long on heifer calves

I know over time it will average out,  but I've never started a calving season like this. Out of the first 25 calves born 21 have been heifers. Going to have some nice heifers to pick from. Anyone else ever had a major unbalance of heifers and bulls?

    Sexed Female Semen Flush Results

From what little research I've seen, you will reduce the number of fertilized eggs. So if you have a cow that normally produces say 20 good eggs, you will cut that # in half with sexed semen to 10 eggs. So by the law of average you are going to end up with the same number of females or bulls...

    Dream On deceased

I don't think he had been producing much as of late. The only semen ABS has is of choice quality, and not very much as I've been told.

    Attitude of first calvers

Show heifer, I would not tolerate a cow that would knock me to the ground and stomp on me either. I just assume that most cows by nature should have some instinct to make sure there calf is not being harmed. I think it alright to have a cow that just stands there as well. When I'm tagging a new...

    Attitude of first calvers

I think there is a big difference between a wild cow and a protective cow. Sometimes a cow can be both and yes those cows should not be tolerated. But I wouldn't trade a really good cow that is a little protective and that is it.

    Attitude of first calvers

As I get older, I get less brave every year. I would just soon drag the calf out of the pen or on top of the flat bed of the truck than get killed. Except I have one cow that a couple years ago came on the back of the truck with me, things where flying everywhere. The cow is not wild at all, and...
