    BC Classic 385-7

I have had 4 calves sired by him so far.  I've got a really nice April 2012 shorthorn plus heifer, plus an Angus heifer and bull born in 2012.  The bull is really nice as well.  The heifer is ok--she's smaller framed, but she's out of a Pioneer heifer, and the lightest muscled of the 3.  All...

    Heifer halter breaking problem

I've got a heifer like none I've ever dealt with.  When you are around her in the barn lot or even inside the pen in the barn she is fine.  She's not mean, crazy acting, flighty or nervous.  She's not "walk right up to you" friendly, but fairly normal acting.  When you put a halter on she's...

Steer loves to lick my shoes and clothes. Is he lacking some kind of mineral?

I had a heifer calf last spring that (from the day she was born)  would lick and chew on your clothes.  Just her personality.

    Andis Lightspeed's

I just bought a pair of Andis Lightspeed clippers on Amazon.com for $96.  <party>  After I bought them, when I click on the item, it takes me to a pair for $164 though even though they still show the pair for $96 in the list.  I found them by doing a search for "Andis Lightspeed".    Worth a...

    Bull Got His Head Stuck

I had a heifer calf get her head stuck in a split in a tree this summer.  The split looks like an upside down "v" in a hollow tree.  My best guess is that she laid down next to it and had her head in the tree when she stood up.  She didn't have sense enough to lay back down.  We put a halter on...

    Lice

Cylence pour on works well for me.  It's just for external parasites so its cheaper than Cydectin.

    Cold weather gear

I prefer Patagonia to Under Armour and most other base layers.  I don't like the feel of UA fabric.  The Patagonia isn't a compression type base layer either and you can choose levels of warmth like with UA.  Love my Smartwool socks too.

    Working Chutes

Lots of options with a formost.  You can pick the type of headgate, tailgate and I believe thw side you operate it from.

    Angus breeding opinions wanted

I hadn't thought of him...and I may actually have a couple of straws in the tank.

    Angus breeding opinions wanted

I have a couple of Consensus heifers that were born this Spring.  Both are very nice, eye-appealing calves.  I may consign one to the same sale as this heifer.  I don't have any Consensus in the tank or I might consider him.  But, after checking the heifers tonight,  it looks like I may be...

    Angus breeding opinions wanted

I have an Angus heifer sired by CC&7 out of a GAR Retail Product cow that I will be A.I.ing soon.  She will probably be consigned to a sale in the spring, so I wanted to get some opinions on which bull to breed her to.  I guess which mating you would think would be more marketable.  Calving ease...

    Best squeeze chutes, why?

+1 on the Formost.  I love mine too and like RW said it's very user friendly.  Lots of options to choose from if you order one (like type of headgate).  I'm also a fan of Preifert.  The vet clinic where I used to work was a Priefert dealer, so I got to use several chutes and systems.  I always...

    Breeding Question

If she's a good milker & quiet why not put an embryo in her?  Then she couldn't pass on her structural problems but still raise a good calf.
