Yes, it is specific to Lock N Load offspring. Live Ammo is another Red Charlie, and we had a nice red bull out of him (pictured). It acts just like the hetero gene, but is not identified as such (meaning he tests as Homo black, but still throws red calves).

Here is an updated pic of our Shell Shocked bull calf. He is a Feb calf, so about 70 days old now. He is starting to grow, and looking better every day. He has a long, thin face. It was odd when he was younger, but he is growing into it.

He doesn't seem to be throwing the white face. Ours has just a small speck of white coming out of his nose, that is it. Right now, at 60 days, he is average compared to his contemporaries. I have a second Shell Shocked coming in May, so we will have more to judge on. I have several bred for fall...

Thanks guys! Mark, we are in SW Missouri. That roan calf is NOT shorthorn... but most will think he is. He is actually 3/8 Belgium blue....  ;)

We breed our heifers at 13 months of age, sometimes 14 months. We have lots that are 1000 pounds as yearlings, that is not unusual with the breed.

We had a nice little Bandwagon embryo bull calf, but he has horns! Is there any market for horned, purebred Simmental bulls? He is on the list to be cut, expensive steer! Bandwagon is not listed as hetero polled, but now I know he is! I have one more embryo of that mating coming in September...

We have had great luck with Optimizer, but I know my females and what they can do. Here is a break down of the ones I have records on in front of me: 75 lbs, bull calf, 284 days gestation, dam Shear Force sired 93 lbs, bull calf, 288 days gestation, dam Upgrade sired 59 lbs, bull calf, 281 days...

We had two this week; one out of a first calf heifer, weighed 58 pounds! The second was out of a 3 year old (second calf) and she was 63 pounds! Small for us.

We bred a group to him for fall 18 calves. I have heard a lot of good things about his babies. Excited to see those calves!
