    winter washing?

We wash and dry the same in the winter as we do in the summer.  Our steers get slicked off and kicked out for about 6 weeks in late spring. The middle of June they get slicked again and into the cooler to get hair ready for Tulsa and the Royal.  The rest of the year it's wash or rinse morning...

Best advice we've ever got "lock up all combs and brushes" Only use the plastic wash mitt.  It makes a world of difference.

    Bedding for galloways

At least 6 bags per calf.  Use it to top dress over coarse or large flake bedding.  I know it sounds expensive but it's well worth it.

    Bedding for galloways

We use the pellet horse bedding.  Cut a small hole in the bag and fill with water.  They swell up and turn into a fine almost sandlike bedding.  They look nice and pack well.

We're in Se Okla and it's a must have for us.  As crazy as it sounds we have an OYE heifer that's been in since mid January, not because of the temps but fighting hair loss due to day length.

We are going to the American Royal for the first time.  Does anyone know where I can find a map of the complex that has the stall and tie out areas marked?  I like to be familiar with the layout before we get there.

    Gooseneck trailers

We pull a 20ft gooseneck with a Ford F150 Ecoboost with no problems and plenty of power.  We are usually hauling 2-3 calves plus all the grooming chutes, generator, show box, fans, feed, etc.  Our biggest issue is we have the shorter bed and have to use a neck extender on the hitch.  Ironically...

Best way to keep cattle cool

It's a water cooler.  No we are the only ones at our county that bring one.  But we are really the only people whose steers are kept in a cool room.  They are pretty big and some places won't allow them because they take up so much room.
