    Jobs - N/C

I farm with my Dad.  While I am far from unique (it's just the two of us and I am female), it sometimes seems as if I am--a dealer stopped by when we were in the market for a new grain cart.  I asked him the necessary questions about bushels, tarp, scales, etc.  When I got to price he said "why...

    Your Favorite Pair Of Boots

Which Twisted X womens boots do you like?  Do they run true to size?  I have a small foot and can wear a kids size 4 so womens boots are often too big.  However the kids boots are often do not hold up well.

    What's Wrong With This

I get that people do not like show cattle and take every opportunity they can to knock them.  What I do not get is why hang around a board that has a high percentage of people that show?!  In defense of Dusty the posts from Show Heifer are usually not filled with facts.  Here is a study that...

    K & A Farm Cowherd Dispersal

Once again Show Heifer do you have any actual facts to back up your statements? Unless you have facts I would think your statements are going to cause you trouble one of these days.

what would you do after sale?

As for the heifer I would say the same as others no refund but would offer to do something on another.  frostback has an excellent point of where will it end?  For the bull probably would do the same--no refend or paying the difference but would offer some sort of deal on another.  This time...

    politics

Honestly I do not think it is that much worse.  It may be more discussed and people are more open about it.  My Dad, who turned 65, talks about his 4-H barrow that won each show until they ran into the neighbors relative as a judge.  He said what he remembers most is learning life is not fair. ...

    Hairy and Paddy O'Malley

Paddy's can make you good cows.  In general, of course way too many variables, they are pretty stout girls that have a cow look I love. I cannot comment a lot on milk but from what I understand they do not stand out as one that don't milk. Hairys should but I do not have any first hand...

Claire Danes to play Temple Grandin

Thanks for this information.  Interesting is very true. I have been a Temple Grandin "fan" for many years.  I have complete admiration for her accomplishments but add in the autisim and she is a very special person indeed.

Diesel Driver!!! What you think about your truck?

We have an 05 Chevy 2500HD diesel, ext. cab and it will get about 22 mpg.  I happen to love the Allison transmission and the Duramax has all the power needed and then some. That being said I have had 2 new GMC duallys that I loved dearly!  I pulled an 8' x 28' Barrett and would be in that 15-17...

A couple of new females I am thinking about purchasing (For Blue Roan Breeding)

I agree completely with Doc.  Blue roans have not died out it is just that they are not as plentiful.  One of my best cows was a blue roan.  Easiest keeping, tiny udder that must have had cream in it.  I never got the great one out of her because she was tossed into a feed bunk by a bigger cow...

    ultrasounding cows

Linette the tiny consolation I can offer is a bad or inexperienced tech is a big problem!  I have had one that was just inexperienced, but still expected to be paid as if she had a clue, and one that was flat out bad.  Jill I have a Great-Uncle that swears by this.  They have tracked his...

    Home again!

It is great to hear you are home.  I have a Corgi as well and they are known for their abilities to speed up the healing process ;)  Partially because you cannot stand the eyes the bore into you when you are not doing something they want so it is easier to get up! Take care of yourself!

Ia State Fair Sale of Champs

Lol Jill I was thinking the same thing about the best bull thing and especially the chicken for crying out loud!! And to Olson Family I agree.  I have been on both sides of that fence.  Growing up I did not start out with an expensive calf or good equipment.  When I was done showing I was able...
