Starting a small club calf operation

Frostie is steering you in the right direction.  Start with some nice registered cows.  Don't go clubby on your cows and make sure they are clean.  Bees clubby if that is what you want, and with registered cows, you can more than likely register the female offspring.  Registered heifers are...

    Sullivan vs. Weaver fitting products

We use them both.  Weaver's red paints cann't be beat.  The blending abilities are phenominal.  Sullivan adhesives are hard to beat. We use the Weaver can's (adhesive and all) when my little boy is going to help fit.  He can't spray the Sullivan can's with one hand.  Way to hard and by the time...

    Let's hear some calf reports.

Hands down the best sire to put out functional, correct show heifers had to be Mercedez Benz.  I went to 3 states, 9 ranchels Is and the "Benz" heifers were hard to fault.  Didn't matter if they were out of Maine cows, charolais cows, or herefords they were all just good structured functional...

    what I miss...

I know technology is great blah blah blah...but I really miss a real life show cattle auction.  Loading the kids up, going thru the calves, the excitement of an auctioneer....sadly I believe those are things of the past.  Right now I have 3 heifers I'm watching .#3 heifer closes first, #2 heifer...
