Thanks for the comments. From our experience salty dog has worked on deep, soggy, smaller framed cows. He seems to add a little frame to our calves. I got to see salty dog when he was just a few days old and this calf has quite the resemblance to him.

This heifer is a Salty Dog x Irish Whiskey's full sister. She is three days old in the pictures. Lots of hair, bone, and color. We are really excited about this one.

What type of cows does he work the best on? Also what are everyone's experiences with this bull. Considering using him this year.

We bred three cows to eye candy this spring and all three took first try so we haven't had problems with him. It could be a coincidence or the semen could have not been properly handled at some point before you recieved it.

We had the exact problem with this mating only the heifer was out of the first Dirtty Hairy and a Heat Wave cow. She never started to become too straight until after we bred her. She became so straight that she became crippled and couldn't stand for more than 5 min at a time. Only got one calf...

I have heard he works great on deep soggy angus cows because he doesn't throw a lot of depth of body.We bred him to a 3/4 angus cow that is very deep last year and have a really nice steer out of her.

Just courious what does everyone breed their 2nd calf heifers to? Do you like to go back to the calving ease bulls such as I 80, Breathe Easy, Ali, etc. or do you take the next step up in breeding and use a bit harder calving bull?

We calved out a hired man heifer calf out of a mature cow a couple years ago and it was an 88 pound calf. The cow had no trouble and the heifer is now retained in our herd with a great temperment.

BS maybe u are right. Maybe we do need to relax and just stop worrying. However our heifers typically calf 5 to 10 days early. A heifer 6 days late is not typical for us and we fear that the calf will be too big and half to be cut out if we leave it go too long.
