Calf with fluid on his lungs

Great post.  Micotil is a good suggestion for brd.  The last paragraph has a lot in common with a 'vet' who shoots down and always chimes in on drug conversations.  I understand this person's stance, but at some point they must realize- 1. they aren't the ones prescribing the drugs in the...

    N/C goat AI breeding question

If there are people out there like you who can hit 70% regularly without LAP, then the 10% difference makes LAP and the risks that come with it look stupid.  Unfortunately, I don't know anyone up here, and I'm sure there are few people in general who can hit that regularly right now.  Congrats...

    N/C goat AI breeding question

With good heat detection/breeding timing and a good GOAT lap AI'er, lots of people are over 80% conception on laproscopic AI.  There is certainly a certain degree more of risk in it, though.  What is a good transcervical stick percentage for you twistedh?  About the same as cattle, all else equal?

    N/C goat registration

It all depends where your goals are.  If it's breeding stock, they have to be registered.  If you are going to play in the wether game, papers aren't really worth much.  Just ask Mike Kelly or Douglas Bean how much not having papers have hurt him and his breeding stock sales in the past decade. ...

    Pickups

I've got a 1996 original P pump one ton Cummins with the 5 speed manual.  It's got 213xxx and has had way more money in body work done to it than mechanical work.  Someday it will die, but I hope that day is far in the future.  Until the motor pukes, I'll keep fixing the interior and body. ...

    TH / PHA

Yes.  IW brings a lot to the table. Until he is dirty PHA.  I'm guessing the son you talk about, and he is clean, though.

    TH / PHA

I might be able to go along with your 'correlation' theory.  Sounds plausible.  But riddle me this, Heat Wave has a ton of sons out there. A ton of the bulls most would associate with TH--hair, bone and hip.  The THC HW sons outnumber clean HW sons 4 to 1 at least, and probably more than that...

    Stter Champions: North vs South

I'm guessing a lot of it is slick vs. haired, but that sure doesn't always hold true at FW, either.

    TH / PHA

Twistedshowstock has a very well thought out post that makes a lot of sense. I still think there are an awful lot of people not on that train, including me.  When you can go out in a pasture of calves and pick out the carriers with alarming frequency, I think you really have to question that...

    Strange Scenario...

The only reason I would worry is that the calves don't quit growing at the due date and this is a heifer.  In general the only calves we ever have birth weight issues with are the ones that are in there too long.  Around 7-plus days over is when we start to worry the calf may be getting large. ...

    I-80

Sometimes they recover quicker if they are in room temperature (if he isn't already).  Sometimes they aren't going to recover anyway, so it doesn't matter.  Don't forget to treat the heifer and all you can do with the calf now is wait.  If he's got colostrom and some banamine or something for...

    Fast Freddy calves

Had one a couple of days ago out of an Ice Pick cow.  Really stout heifer calf.  Red with white splashed around the legs, belly and hips.  She was good sized, but was unassisted.  Not a monster by any means in the clubby world.  Time will always tell, but she's cool for now.

    low birthweight maine bull

Lots of good options.  If you're really looking to build a cow herd, you can rarely go wrong with Witch Doctor as a low bw maine.  They're ugly for a while, but there are many a good Witch Dr cows out tromping pastures and raising really good calves.  Might not be as showy or hip as some of the...

What do you think of my show heifer?

Get a live one out of her first.  The first one can set up a cows productivity for the rest of her life.  Many a good heifers with lots of potential have never had a second calf, it's a shame.  Just because they're positively low bw doesn't mean they have to be junk.

    This bothers me-

So many croon and croon that the show world needs to be brought more inline with the commercial world, how can these same people reasonably (rationally)  be against bringing feeding practices more inline with one another? If the person wanting to learn how to feed steers got good advice about...

Is this the same Ryan Rash who got banned from Denver for Clenbuterol?

    Help with goats! Feed/Supplement suggestions

No Sure Champ, but the Grand Goat is a pretty stout  supplement.  It has 'full stream' in it for the UC, and has really worked well in our experience.  Most of the big time guys I know use it in their sale wethers to get them ready.

    Invitro in Texas

Taking shots like this is in no way fair.  If you're not willing to share the experience or are scared to put it into public, don't even mention anything.  This is just a cheap blow for all anyone else knows.

Thanks Jason, I will give it a try...........................

It depends what age you are looking for, but I can either help you out or get you pointed in a good direction either in IN or Ohio.  We show quite a bit in OH, so we head that way a lot.  PM me if interested and we can see what we can do.
