As a 4H/FFA Dad I never had good luck with any of the so called calving ease shorthorns.  Much better success with an angus.  If I had a heifer today I would try this one... Admittedly I have used his sire, but not him.  I also like the 3ml sexed heifer semen...

Near here any roan costs you big discounts at a salebarn.  I see no change in the pattern.  Know your marketing options is my best advice.  If your buyer is ok with color, your good, sale barn would cost you.  Cool colored show animals will pay....

I am curious how long it takes and how much it appoximately costs to import a heifer or bull to the US and ship it to Des Moines, IA for example from a sale like yours.  I have no idea...

I think the first Rate sons have added a little power to the angus deal if that is what you want.  I like Blue chip, am crious about Primo, but there are a lot of them, and there are people who have a better handle on attributes of each bull than me.  Hopefully some will chime in...

If I was you, I would be very excited to she how she does.  She looks great!  It may be too early to tell for sure, but it is always fun to have one that is off to a good start! Have Fun!

GQ sexed 5ml semen is $300. 

My experience has been good with 3ml and 5 ml sexed semen.  But not good with the 2.1ml.

I agree with IVF as best, but most expensive option. I have had poor luck with all 2.1ml sexed. I have had good luck with the 3ml or 5ml from Trans Ova. It is harder to find.  Try emailing cattle visions on what they have, they will email back a current list.  I've seen some angus available if...
