The boy I helped this year finished up at a small fair that had about 35 calves. He had a second calf this year that he paid 1300 for, it was a calf that was a little younger for our county fair ( he finished 3rd in his class at county.) The calf filled out this past month and looked pretty good ( was why I was asking about slick shearing on the other thread) he ended up reserve champion and won senior showmanship as well. Not bad for a left over calf that cost $1300. A local family bred him but run their cattle in Utah and bring them here to sell.

He did a decent job of slicking him out, he did it from the information from post on this site on slick shearing.

Pretty good feeling when those "leftovers" go on to do good isn't it. Congrats.
