HOGS. VERY COMMON. STEERS. NOT SO MUCH.
AT THE FAIR LAST YEAR, 234 HOGS SOLD FIRST, THEN 60 GOATS, 43 LAMBS, AND LASTLY, THE STEERS, ALL 22 OF EM'.PIGS TAKE UP TO MUCH AUCTION TIME AND RUIN OUR SALES MONEY. SPEND MONEY ON THE HOGS AND THE LAMBS AND LEAVE BEFORE THE STEER SALE. DON'T YOU JUST HATE THAT.

I'm sure the kids that show hogs don't look at it that way. you need to line up buyers to keep them at the sale. Doesn'tt your fair rotate the selling order? Ours does each year. You have to let eveyone that shows be given an equal chance to sell.

I cann't imagine those hogs taking from the cattle sale if your doing your part.  Do you go out and personally invite buyers to your sale?  We use to invite prospective buyers to the sale every year.  I always told them they don't have to buy my animal, but if they would just "bid" on someones animal it would be greatly appreciated.  This year my daughter is making invitations for people we do business with and is putting a picture of herself and her animal in it. (many times the buyers know mom and dad and don't recognize the kid) and is personally inviting them to the sale.

Maybe suggest the sale committee give each exhibitor so many free passes for sale day to give to buyers also.  It's a nice touch and shows you really want them to come.  Remember, politness and not demanding them to buy your animal goes a long way.  Just tell them you'd appreciate them coming and supporting all the kids at the sale.
