Since we launched the classifieds, a few other projects and just life in general pulled me away finishing the auction portion of the system.  I am back at work, ironing out all the bugs, and adding a few last minute critical items.

The ultimate goal is to make a very affordable, user-friendly, cost-effective way of allowing breeders to host private treaty sales of their own online.

If you have a minute, bid on one of the items at the link below.  It is a fictional auction and you will not be required to purchase what you win.  You will need a steer planet classifieds account, but I have disabled my credit card verification system, so you will able to bid without having to enter any more info.  Thanks.

l like it, and think more auctions should be in this format.. quick, easy, and it allows you to know if you're in the ball park or not.  place your max bid, and let the rest do it's thing...

Ok, I changed my mind, your are obligated to buy the items.  (lol)  One of the sp caps is up to 8200.00 and someone pm'd me that they bid 800,000 on one of the lots.

I have a whole list of improvements I am working on as the process takes place; from basic formatting, to text, to major changes.  This is very helpful from the standpoint.

I am still eager to try to have a semen auction on your new auction site this spring. I will be in touch in late march or so.

Sounds good, it should be ready to roll soon.

You going to set it up to send out an email when you have been outbid as I never got an email when I was outbid like many other auction sites?

That's weird as I just checked again and I never got a single email saying I was outbid.

Check your spam folder and let me know.  It is set to send out notices on outbids.

FYI, admin is my account also.

Worked on this weekend, a little closer.  Got the verification system hammered out.  I am working on a countdown clock

Something that we have always talked about on Steer Planet, but have never been able to put together is a Steer Planet Sale.  Members could cosign a couple of their best lots to the sale and have basically a premium sale in the fall.  Everyone pulls together on advertising it and I advertise heavy on here and we could really have something.

I just checked and I did not get anything for being outbid, my last email was from support@steerplanet saying I was the high bidder. That email and all other emails (PM's ETC) from steerplanet I have got have came to my inbox, but I checked my junk (spam) box and no email in there either, maybe it is just lost in cyberspace.

Sorry to ramble on here and keep updating with new posts.

But, I do have a question that I need some input.  Several people have expressed interest in having a sale in the fall, but want to tie in their regular customers, who might not go online.  How do we account for these people?

Here are some ideas.  The seller, provides a user registration form and a bid sheet to fax in during the sale.  The user form contains all their bidding info as well as credit card info to verify them.  They then can fax in a bid during the sale or after their user registration form is faxed in.  The other option would be to call a bid to Steer Planet directly, but I would still need to take down all their info and verify them.  This obviously adds a bit more work to the equation.

The system is setup so that no one ever knows what another person's proxy bid was.  Even after the auction, the seller does not know the maximum a person would pay, only the bid that won the auction.

The biggest hiccup is the time factor, an auction is going to end at a preset time, it can be extended by 5 minutes, by bidding in the last 5 minutes, but if a fax bidder gets out bid and if they are unable to get a bid in that allotted time, auction over.

I will check into it.
