That's pretty cool, we have a group of about 50 turkeys that live in the field across from us, but they don't ever come close

Up to a coupleyears ago, we had about 50 or so on the ranch -- and didn't have much here for the winter -- they would always migrat out ot the picked corn fields up north a little.

The last two years, and this year especially -- the big bunch never left -- they roost right in the yard over the house an it is a mess most of the time.

They have gotten so brave that they actually come up and fight the cats off for thier cat food -- even dog food if she is sleeping!

The poor steer out there in his pen has to FIGHT for grain -- so I Have to stand there while he eats or the Turkey's get most of it -- !

Will donate 100 birds to who ever needs to establish a flock -- get with DNR and I will help -- I most likely have 20$ a head in them now as much as they eat around here! Love the birds, but I think we are at overflow! hehehehe

The turkeys are the same way here and sometimes you have to shoot one so they know you are serious.  They are tasty until you see all cow pies they are eating the corn out of,  looks like I chian drag everyday everywhere.

Yes, if all the urban dwellers who eat out at the fancy restaurants new where "free range chickens" get their feed... I guess they deserve paying $18.00 for a chicken breast for being so smart. Maybe you could sell "free range turkeys".

We've got a group of 50 longbeards that come pick through the turds at our showcalf pens every morning & afternoon.  There's also a group of 30 or so hens that stop by nearly everyday as well.  I can stand there and blow a calf out, while turkeys walk within 10 yards of me.  Hunting turkeys just isn't nearly as appealing to me anymore, after seeing how truly stupid they are & what they eat all the time.

I don't have a picture of it but at our distiller pile an also three or four neighbors with distillers will have any where from 20-to 60 head of deer on them , especially before deer season, you don't see as many now ....  We bagged our distillers an always thought it was the coons doing the damage , but the deer this year just poked holes all over that bag an then some of it gets air an spoils some of it ...Those animals right people have no idea of what it costs some of us to not be radical an just go shoot a bunch of them an let them die....  Any more though in this country if you have a good relationship with some of the landowners an respect their property it shouldn't be to hard to find a place to hunt, now like our place we had about ten people all ready ask for next year an that is proably enough for our little place an not get someone hurt ..but there is other people thatmight not have any hunters ....

Who would have ever thought that there would be more Wild Turkeys in southern Iowa than Pheasants. I was in my earlty to mid 20's b4 I saw my first Wild Turkey. Now I see flocks every day. They are getting so over populated already that they are taking a lot of the farmers grain. In the spring they walk down the rows of corn and dig up the kernals b4 they can germinate.

those turkeys kill pheasant and grouse nests. there used to be grouse in So. OH but the DNR pumped us full of turkeys and now there's hardly any.

Turkeys are a big pain in the A@#, and they do scratch up nests of grouse and pheasant.
