My steer is about 10 months old, he’s halter broken, leads well, eats well and he’s looking really good. Only problem is he’s started kicking recently. He’s especially bad when I’m using the blower on him, but he’ll also kick behind him if someone gets too close, like trying to get him moving if he stops on the lead. Is it possible to break this habit? Any suggestions on how to do it?

if you have a old show stick try to just mess with legs and feet when he is tied or in a chute. Make sure you stand back though or if you have hobbles I have had steers do that to me before and there is not alot you can do
Hope you figure it out

Use a broom with a long handle. Just tap him all over with it. When he kicks out, smack him real hard with the broom.

Every time he kicks out, hit him hard. He will continue kick if he gets away with it.

My friend's steer last year was a really bad kicker. He would kick at everyone all the time. The broom worked with him.

Desensitizing him with a plastic bag on an old show stick could help too. Also, don't stop when he kicks out.

My steer would kick out sometimes, but I hit him every time and he stopped doing it.
