Had a calf evening of feb 24th unassisted. Noticed next day that when calf would stand up its left rear leg would bow outward, and that it would try to put weight on it but really couldnt. Sat I notice calf didnt want to get up if it didnt have to. It has been nursing, but I was afraid it would stop because of the leg. Called vet and he had me give it a shot of banamine and shot of vitamine a & d. sun looked better, and has been nursing good, but iam worried about the leg now. I have felt on the leg and dont think its broken, I think it is from the way it was in lying in ther mom. I hope it gets stronger and the leg. Any thoughts?

Had a calf born in October just like this. Worried us to death since it came out of our best heifer. After a day of icing every hour and making sure she nursed I took her to the vet. He called them "Wind Blown" legs and everything would be fine. After about two weeks you could not even tell that they were that way.

I had the same thing about a week ago. The heifers back leg looked almost like the hip was popped out or something. I gave her a shot of banamine and BOSE selenium. We just put her out yesterday and she is walking much better and she looks a lot better visually. I think it was laying in the cow awkwardly like you think yours was. I think your calf should be fine. You could probably give it banamine everyday for a few days to make sure she is comfortable enough to get up and nurse on her own.
