As things get tight and college grads look to others for jobs, it is important to network. I have found that many ages of folks come to SP for guidance and advice. I am not going to lie, I would love a new job right now! So, if we start gathering sites and companies that might be hiring, we could have a great wealth of information for gradutates. Heck, even internships. Let's start putting some stuff, ag related, up. I like to go to the Livetock Publications Council Web site. They have some nice jobs open in ag communications, too bad not in Oklahoma.

Any other suggestions?

I would check feed manufactures, animal drug company's etc. You may find a sales or etc position going this route. Lots of times the companys' will take interns. I have talked to several folks who sell medications to vets and they love it. If I wasn't in the human market I would change to four legged ones.

one thing i did in college the last 6 mos of undergrad was make a crude database of who was hiring for what where in the field i was interested in even if it was for positions i was nowhere qualified for.  granted, some companies disguise positions, and some use local posting services.  i did this to help me choose what type of startup company to apply to.  granted, most startups fail, 90% or more, but you make great realtionships and you eventually rework with who you worked with 10 years later as everyone does the merrygoround working on great ideas.

one thing you could do is list the 10 things that need addressing in a field and see if anyone is working on that, if not, why not.

bin things, look for trends.

what will be the fallout from ethanol subsidies.  talk to people in government to see if the subsidy climate for a particular field is opening up.  ugh, can't believe i said that.
