What can you tell me about the angus bull

S A Commander 226 Reg: AAA 11816008

I have some in the tank, that I'm thinking about coming in and using on some heifers with shorthorn and angus base to them....

Heard he made some good cattle back in the day- several winning heifers..

how would he work today?

I actually remember this bull.  His calves were made pretty cool.  They had hair, bone and butt.  Volume seemed to be a trouble spot as well as frame(a little big).  If you had some smaller framed ground sows he may work.

He is a TC Stockman son and he is TC Ranch on the bottom. I never used him but have used TC STockman 365, a paternal brother. If you didn't breed Stockman 365 right you would end up with some big framed hard keepers, but if the cow clicked they were awesome. I bet if you bred SA Commander to smaller framed easy fleshing cows with big middles you would get some good ones. I found semen on Commander at TOPSIRES for $8.

that's where this semen originated from top sires.. had it on sale for $4 a straw.. bought it to use on those "neighbors" who have a cow that they want bred, don't matter what.. just come and breed it for a black calf...  We still have it, and have been thinking on using some for ourselves...  Can't go wrong with $4 semen under any senerio...  He's the only black Angus bull we have in the tank... wanted to use something like that on some Shorthorn heifers for calving ease.. it's cheap semen, and I'm not out much.. also if I get a blue roan, hey all the better....

I just wanted a slight bit of info on him, to know if it was worth using on these heifers- I do still care about quality, and making a better calf!.

thanks,
