I have a chance to buy some angus cows sired by Future Direction, JD Daigger, Basin Max 602C, and White Oak Precise.  What kind of cows do these bulls normally produce?  Also, some of them are A.M. carriers.  Would that cause problems with registration and are bulls already tested so that it is easy to avoid breeding to a carrier?

I still have one White Oak Precise and she has done a good job for me. Just culled one b/c of udder problems - she did always put a good calf on the ground.

I wouldn't touch the AM carriers. There are a lot of good cattle for sale that are AM free. What is the goal of your herd for example are you after carcass numbers, power bulls, show calves etc .Personally Ive seen some decent 602c calves. But not high on precise, not enough jam for me.Not sure who Daigger is??

Well, looks like we have a whole flury of bulls with issues here.  Makes me glad I don't have any of them or any on the way.

What breed are you using that don't have three  quarters Angus in it .  It could affect some other breed's too...............

Well ... I raise angus.  I don't have anything that goes back to them in my herd.  I have some Precision lines but by the time it got to my cows the siring bull was clean.  Never used In Focus because I didn't like his calves.  Actually, my complaint with him goes all the way back to Fame.  Had a 598 daughter for a second and she bloated up and kicked it.  I'm sure I will get hit with something one of these days, but fortunately for me it isn't today.

First off, the Angus Assoc has taken the correct position that it will not register any carriers. That alone should make you walk away.
Second, sounds like someone was trying to unload a bunch of carriers, possible carriers, and genetic defect messes upon an unsuspecting buyer. And THAT, should make you RUN away.

Like was mentioned before, there are many clean genetics available for purchase from respectable breeders. Go and find your stock there. I wish you luck.

Thank you for the replies.  They aren't trying to unload anything on an unsuspectong buyer.  I know which ones are and are not carriers.  Does anyone know anything about the JD Daigger bull?  The cow that is sired by him is one of the clean ones, but I don't know anything about the bull.

I don't know a lot about the bull, but I did see some calves a couple years back by him and was pretty impressed.  I've talked to a couple of people that have them as cows and they are real happy with them.

Sorry Ruchian, my bad. I am glad they have tested and are being upfront. I am unfamiliar with the Daigger bull, but you might have luck calling some semen companies and inquiring. I know SEK and Cattle Visions have offered some unbiased opinions on bulls that I have wondered about.

No problem.  I understand that some people do try to dump carriers on people but I have bought from these people before and the are very helpful.
