SteerPlanet.com has always had individuals answer questions honestly and thoughtfully; therefore, when I posed a question earlier this past week, I was not surprised by the amount of suggestions I received.  The question pertained to what bulls would people suggest to breed to a Dirty Harry x Heat Seeker x Meyer 8 heifer that we are fortunate to own.  As a result of reading the many, educated responses, I have decided to ask the same question dealing with what bull and/or bulls would people suggest breeding another Dirty Harry heifer we, too, are fortunate to own.  Whereas the fomer DH heifer's dam is a Heat Seeker x Meyer 8, this ladder DH heifer's dam is a Friction.  Just as I had faulted the first DH heifer, I, too, believe this DH heifer could stand just a tick more rib.

So ... if she were at your place, to what bull (s) would you choose to breed her?  Clubby or Maine-Anjou or other?

Thank you,

Pat Wolfe

Ramblim fever(PB angus) He would give you a hoss of a show heifer and a momma cow. Would toss a straw in her in a hear beat.

I like Ramblin Fever as well, or Duff New Look would be a great choice.

Since ya'll are mentioning some Angus sires, how bout Darkhorse, or for that matter SAV Bismark if you can get ahold of it. For clubbies maybe Tycoon? I've hear he's pretty calving ease and have a buddy who bred one needing more rib to her to him.

Is darkhorse calving ease? I can't imagine that tycoon is going to add a whole lot of body being out of hannibal.

Really wouldnt suggest Tycoon if they wants more rib... JMHO. Now back to the MY suggestions... I like the idea of Grandmaster on her.  Or Fatt Butt for another simmi suggestion. Smooth Move is another suggestion (angus) that I think could possibly work as well.  If you want rib and maybe want to chance sacraficing some lower quarter, Silveria Style might do it for you as well. I realize hes a 2.4 BW, but I personally would feel comfortable enough putting him on a heifer with a CED 7.. plus hes super smooth and laid right in his shoulder, which is a plus.

I would agree with Ramblin Fever.  Wish I would have used him on my Dirty Hairy heifer this year but went with Northern Improvement for proven calving ease instead.

I would not classify Dark Horse in the calving ease department based off our birth weights and some others I've heard.  Didn't hear of any problems, but don't think you can consistantly see lighter weight calves out of him...

Ramblin fever,Northern Ice,Ali Clone-WLTR Confetti, final soltion,DMCC Bodybuilder,Way Cool ,Breathe Easy,Ego Trip,or any of the numerous Ali Sons-and last but not least (probably forgot 50 good CE bulls) Proud Jazz-he works on about anything with some scale O0

Really nice looking heifer. Ramblin Fever would be one of my choices too. He sure is popular.  Any reports on his calves? I personally like throwing more Angus Genetics back in when they get so crossed up.

Fat Butt as a simmi
JPJ will add guts and maybe color.
Never seen Ramblin Fever so not sure on him (haven't seen any calves either)...

Nice heifer, but I do agree with you. She needs more guts and ribs.

I wouldnt suggest ali or any of his sons since dirty hairy is an ali son. I would give Jakes Proud Jazz a try as we had a great calf born this year out of a hannibal heifer that has tons of hair and rib.

angus: Outer Limits!!!!!!!(duff bull)
simmy:grandmaster
kinda clubby: Northern ice, really good in person i see him as a momma factory someday.....sired by norther improv, i belive hes a traush bull
short horn: JPJ.... would really be a sweet little calf if the momma has some frame
