What type of purebred simmental cows does the Star Power bull work best on ? Or maybe to get more defined , what type of pedigree does he seem to click with best ? I know there is a a lot of bad talk about him but lately I've seen some cattle out of him that I really like . I've got basically 3 types of cows here , your bigger taller blacks that all go back to black perfector , some deeper bodied dream on influenced cows , and some macho X angus half blood cows . Not real sure what to possibly try him on ??? Thanks

Ok, I'll bite. Me, I would use him on the halfbloods.

He definitely works best on deeper bodied females. For me, he worked best on the plainest looking cows I had. He definitely makes them fancy and adds muscle. I have first-calf heifers out of him and all are doing a good job raising their calves and have great udders. I don't have any semen left, but if I still had some I wouldn't mind using him on some of my high percentage Angus cows.

Thanks for the reply , that's kinda what I was thinking of trying him on , the half bloods . Also maybe a couple straight angus cows too .

I really like the Star Power calves.  I would use him moderate or smaller framed females.  Those perfectors you mention may be too big and the Dream ons, too closely related.  That leaves the Macho X angus.  He should work on them.  He is not heifer bull so keep him on cows.

Your probably right , the perfector descendants I have are some big girls !  Ill give him a whirl on these half bloods once , they are a little smaller on frame size . I appreciate the advice.

I used Star Power on my Dunlouise Excalibur  (Scottish Angus) x GFI Magnum heifer, moderately difficult birth, I wouldn't use him on another heifer, but the resulting offspring, now a first calf heifer, is very impressive.  Lots of volume and plenty of milk.
