I have a heifer that I want to breed using sexed semen. I'm told sexed semen will have a little lower conception rate than conventional. She was cycling regularly, until I was ready to breed her about 45 days ago. Now she's standing. I hate to used sexed and lessen my chances of sticking her. If she doesn't stick this time around, she becomes a late calver. For those with any sexed semen experience, would it increase my odds of success to breed her right after she goes out of heat and then again 8-10 hours later? It's more important to get her bred than the cost of the extra unit of semen. Or should I use conventional (same bull) semen and just run the normal risk?
