Are counters possible on blogs

I am wondering if it is possible to install a counter on a person's blog? If this is possible, it may spur some of us bloggers to write more often, knowing that people are actually reading them. Without a counter, it sometimes seems like you are talking to yourself.

yeah, id like to know also...i think i asked jason once, and he told me, but i could never get it to work...
