I would suggest that if you are going to feed a ration that high in barley and corn, that you feed a mineral that is 2:1 or 3: 1 calcium : phosphorus. The extra calcium will help keep them from getting stiff.

We fed Woody's for years, it was a Barley based feed we got from Gleue's, and we had really good luck with it, fed it to steers and heifers both, you might see if you can locate a tag to see what the % ratios would be.  Like OFS we feed Onyx free choice all year.
