It was 60 degrees at 7:00 am, was about 20 degree at noon, and currently 11 degrees in east central Kansas.  It seems to be moving pretty quick so expect it soon if you are east of us.

It was 42 when we came home from church, went to a 4-H meeting in the after noon and came home to 21 and now its 0 with 20 mph winds in SE Minnesota.  Guess Saturday must have been the extent of "warm spell."  Did get all the cows and bred heifers thru the chute while it was warm to booster their scour vac. thou.

I used to work a cattle sale in Fargo ND in Dec. That is they only place I've ever called ahead to check on the weather that they differentiated between 40 above and 40 below 0 for temps. RW

right now it is -34 with a very stiff breeze out. With the wind chill calculated in it is -50. I really don't know how the animals take it as good as they do. I went out this afternoon and made sure everything had lots of hay and bedding. The cattle were all out eating. Some were running and playing as if it was fun out. I certainly wasn't having much fun! In this temp. you freeze your face in moments rather than minutes.I hope it breaks soon, but it sounds like we have a few more days yet.

In the last 18 hours it has dropped almost 70 degrees here. Brrrrrrrr. Makes it hard to get used to for sure, but I'm glad we don't have weeeks of -20 to -40 temps here. I hate all of the problems that come with below zero temps (keeping tractors, trucks running, frozen waterers etc), I have alot of respect for you guys up north but I do think you are nuts! RW

we've got 50 right now. I don't think forcast is calling for temps much below 30.
