My advice to all of those that don't like winter.....MOVE SOUTH.

I love winter. Snow, cold weather. No wind though, don't like the wind.

When it is cold, there is no mud, cows stay together, ground looks clean, and you can track things.

My theory is you can always put more cloths on, but ya look pretty stupid baling hay naked.

Meow....someone dump your cheerios today?  I'd move in a heartbeat trust me....not always feesable.  Cann't help medication and a blood clot makes hubby cold.

I think were all just venting some winter blahs...glad you like winter, wish I could.  Never have don't think I ever will.  Until I can convince hubby Aruba is a good place to cattle farm, I'm stuck.  I love him more than I hate winter so here I am!

I don't think many would complain about winter if it was never below say 25.  Ground could still be frozen, but most things will still run decently.  It is the teens and negatives that kill me!

Klint - hope you have a good place to work your Denver string (heated wash rack, etc)! RW

The Denver string is getting the week off :) Our attention has been on keeping the waterers open, cows fed and bedded, and avoiding frostbite if possible.

Don't get me wrong, I love living in this part of the country. It's those 2 weeks a year that really mess with you. We had to go to my wife's great grandfather's funeral today and it was actually nice to stand outside at the cemetary in 12 degree weather. It seriously felt like a nice 30 degree day.

I actually love winter... except for the real nasty stuff we sometimes get. This last week has been very cold, and I have been feeling sorry for the critters. I find that they really don't mind it this cold if the wind isn't real bad. Every morning this week, the cows have been out in the field, and stayed there most of the day. The horses have been out wandering around the pasture picking grass, even though they have a bale of hay in a hay feeder about 20 feet from their shed.Last night at midnight, I drove my truck to the feedlot to check a water bowl. I was surprised to see cattle wandering all over the pasture as well as cows walking to water at that time of night. There was virtually no cows laying in the straw. When they act like that, it is hard to keep feeling sorry for them.

I will take this over freezing rain and mud any day. We have mud for a few days each spring when it thaws, and I threaten to sell the cows!  I have no idea how some of you put up with mud for months on end.

I don't mind the Winter either,  It's a toss-up, I think I'd rather chip a little ice daily than mow the whole place 1-2 times a week.  I do look forward to a cold cooler, the swimming hole and a hot Summer Day.

Turn the cows and out and you won't have to mow.... Just put a hot wire around the house so they don't rub against it...

You Know Dusty,  You might enjoy Winter more if you were Union and didn't have to smooch up to the boss by loading that Train Car in this Weather!  (clapping)
