How much do these (generally) add to a calf in terms of Birth Weight? I am going to breed some cows to them for their third calf - their first two calves have been consistently in the 60-70 pound range. All unassisted. I think we would get along fine but does anyone think that this could be an exceptionally bad idea?
The cows are fed fair quality grass hay until mid December, then they are switched over to good grass hay.

I had both a bim and an mab last year out of 2nd calvers. Both were maternal bred cows and both calved bull calves unassisted. If your cows aren't clubby bred I'd go for it.

They are far from clubby. Most are just average run of the mill cows tha neeeeeeed muscle. I figured BIM would do that, MAB to the ones that have a little more muscle.

I bred MAB to a 8 y.o. sim/Angus cow last year and got a heifer calf that was around 60-70 lbs and got a long just fine. I also have bought 2 MAB/simmental cows a few years and bred them to a easy calver simmental bull and both had calves in that same weight range. I only pulled one because she was a heifer and I was impatient and didn't want to take a chance.
