sometimes once they start they seem to never get their rumen back to being healthy and be able to stop bloating.
did you take away all grain?
not as likely to bloat on just hay.
another option that we did once upon a time a long time ago;
had a bull that was a chronic bloater; got a hole tied open in his rumen;
they do it on the top of their rumen just in front of the hip bone...
a vet has to do it; makes a hole the size of maybe a quarter, sutures it open
the animal is fine, can eat anything, will never bloat as long as that hole is open.
you can then get a good night's sleep!

My son's show steer last yr was a chronic bloater, I was never so glad for him to go. I had a hard time finding one, but they do make "Bloat Blocks", I don't know how well they work, but supposedly they are just like keeping your salt or mineral blocks out. Don't know the price, but I think they are around the same price as a salt block. Good luck.
