Previously I started a post about a blue roan bull that did NOT go to Denver and raised by Tim & Trudy Ohlde. Later, I sent an email to a friend of mine, that several years ago spent a summer at Tim & Trudy Ohlde's as an intern while in college. He has purchased several bulls and cows since that time, and kept in close contact with the Ohlde Family. In my letter to him, I asked about the blue roan bull that I had heard about. Did he sell in Tim's bull sale last year (2011), and if he would please send me whatever information on the bull he might know. Below I is an expert from his letter, reprinted with his permission.

Blue Moon is his name, he is sired by Mitchel (Hunter (Focus x Anchor) x Emblazon x Anchor). His dam is shorthorn, a maternal sister to Jake's Proud Jazz. I think she is actually like a ¾ sister. He sold in Tim's sale last spring, ½ interest in him for $15,500. I think the sale catalog and picture are still up on his web site. Three guys went in together and bought, I am not familiar with any of them. I am not sure who is carrying him, I thought Tim said all the major distributors were but I have not seen him listed anywhere.
Supposedly, he has it all (according to Tim) huge bodied, nice front and balance, massive muscle, great hair and bone. Tim told me last year he would have been the best bull on display at Denver if he had taken him out there. A bunch of Angus guys told him at sale time he was the best bull in the sale. Then he told me a few weeks ago that a few clubby guys did not think he had a freaky enough lower quarter, that is the only negative thing Tim has said. It is all a nice story, we will see how he pans out. The first calves should hit the ground this spring. Tim has possession of him, so if I ever make it out there I will see what he looks like. BW is average, I think he was around 80 pounds, the shorthorn behind him is pretty low birth for shorthorns.
I almost used him last year, but at the last minute decided not to, just because I had never seen him or his mother and did not want to use an unproven bull that turned out to be a dud. What intrigues me about him is he supposedly has great body and good fleshing ability, and that is something all the SM AN bulls I like are lacking. He should have good hair and bone too.
