Breeding Foresight or Maybe Hindsight

I got to thinking the other day about the downsizing of these show calves with a focus on shorthorns. I'm wondering when we get some of these cows so moderate what are we going to use to add some frame. I got a couple that it wouldn't hurt to add some frame but not lose any body. I'm curious to see what older bulls, maybe early 2000's or earlier, would work to achieve the goal of adding frame, not losing body, and maintaining look. Any thoughts?

Not an older bull suggestion, but I will throw out that if I was looking to increase frame on one that Renegade Blues would be of consideration. My sample is small, but of the two I've had born, both heifers were a frame score or more bigger than their dams. Quality seemed to mirror the quality of the dam.

It’s taken me nearly 10 years and constant pursuit to find two mid 4 frame Shorthorn bulls of good enough quality to use as walking herdsires.  Leveldale Genesis and Saskvalley Editor. 

As hard as it was to find cattle of this stature within Shorthorns, I can’t image the breed ever having an issue making them too moderate. Near impossible to find a pedigree that doesn’t have 7 or 8 frames in it right up close. The last Shorthorn show I went to the yearling heifers all weighed more than my mature cows.

I would want to see some recent US pedigrees with 7-8 frame cattle close up -Even UB Mad Max-who was a girrafe was around a 7-And that was 1993-Byland Goldwalk was a massive bull Maybe 6.5 or so-I raised an 850 pound WW bull calf from him  out of a very moderate Byland Lavender cow who was about a 4.5-5 frame (Shadybrooke Sparkleler came from a sister in blood or something) Maybe me you can enlighten me-Deertrail Awesome was born very late 80s or 1990-Hes the only one Ive ever seen that big in person O0

I think those bulls you’re recalling were much taller than you’re remembering. 
Biggest SH cow I’ve ever seen was a t90 clone in Illinois few years ago that was easily a frame 9+.  Just this past year Waukaru, Saskvalley, Byland, all had some 7 frame yearlings they offered.  This is just tip of the tongue name drops.  Millvale, Hubs, Haumont etc all outfits with 7+ frame walking bulls

As far as the time frame of the big dual cattle (early to maybe mid 90s)-Everything was big. The biggest cow Ive ever seen,( including other breeds and 1991-in Ireland)-was Deertrail lasting Impression-She was nearly 6 feet tall and guesstimates had her at 2800 pounds I didnt think about Waukaru Patent-Hes probably 7 plus maybe pushing an 8 :certainly a big bull by what I see for their sires.Deertrail T bone was very tall,along with Sagebrush who went to Backenhus-T Bone would still be back in the Della Daiseys,Final Solution  etc as a great grandfather-He was a mid 90s deal.-Ive seen tons of Byland cattle and started with them: as well as offshoots-They are bred to get there real fast then level out-like Angus.The last bull I saw that tall at Byland was RPS Hutton in 1991 Most of the available Canadian bulls I see are massive-but dont look  that tall-at least in the pictures Im sure: JIT, Ockotocks ,Muri and others on here would be a good sounding boards. The thread says recent-I took it to mean 8-9 plus frame bulls-in everyday use: today.Not clear what clone you are referring to O0
