I have an Reg. Angus first calf heifer due in May to Jesse James.  She's a Walker (Marathon x Northern Improvement) out of an Emblazon cow.  She's a 7+ frame score based on both the Angus Association and Steer Planet's frame score chart.  She's too straight for some but I like her lines.  I'll be honest, she's not real wide and needs to be bred to a bull that will add thickness.  I'll be buying semen from ABS and could go Man Amongst Boys (clubby), Tracken Norman (Chiangus), I Da Man (Chi) or Shock And Awe (SimAngus). The last three would all be registrable and able to be shown at Fort Worth (Fort Worth is a local show).  Or he first could give me the $$ steer?  Here are some pics of her.  Please be kind.

Do you have any interest in breeding her Angus?  There is a heck of a market for registered Angus show heifers.  That heifer is not too straight in my opinion.

There is not much demand for chiangus cattle.  I used to like them, but that has just disappeared.

It's honestly hard to get a "Texas competetive" steer out of an Angus cow.  Unless you are trying to get one that will class Angus.

On my PB Angus cows that I cross, I'm using Irish Whiskey genetics.  I used a bull this year called GCC Unwound.  The females out of that kind of cross are very good.

I really like my MAB calves, but I have not used him on Angus cows.  I could see Walks Alone working on her.

Thank you "chambero".  There is one Angus Bull I really, really like.  Vin-Mar O'Reilly Factor.  I think it would be hard to market an good Angus in this area with breeders to the North, South and West of me that would make it difficult for me to sell...well, you know.  I currently have one of the best animals I've ever bred and I can't get anyone to come look at her. 

The intention has been to breed her to Heat Wave (clone).  The offspring would be 6.893% Chi.  Steer or heifer I'd have something to sell.  I just worry about calving.  Though she large framed, she's not real wide.  It'll be better to determine once she's matured, calved, etc...

My profile pic is a Jesse James heifer out of a Heat Wave x Meyer cow.  Best calf I've ever raised.  And I might find that I breed this Angus right back to Jesse James if I like what I get.  I was disappointed that he wasn't higher % Chi (questions on the dam) but found out that his dam is by a bull named Blazer who is a double bred Whiplash bull.  Meaning double bred Meyer.  That can't hurt the heifers any.

Just from pictures and her build, I would use anything OCC , Jauer, or DUFF on her to add some side, mass and overall body. JMO. I do not know anything about the market down south. Those breeders have cattle I love to look at.

Really nice heifer!! The more I see of JJ calves the more I like him! I hope he will add some power to my stylish heifer. Would the calf be considered a maintainer if it is out of a 50% maine?

In another thread, we were talking about a man who had a nice PB cow that lacked a few traits he would like so he was breeding her clubby.  I respect the PB thing.  I grew up raising PB Simmental.  Not SimAngus or Low % Simmental.  Heifers had to be 3/4 and bulls PB.  With my Angus heifer, I didn't buy her to raise an Angus.  I bought her to breed to a Chi bull.  A Chi bull that would give me a calf eligible to show at the National Events as kids here want to be able to show at Fort Worth, the State Junior Show and the Junior Nationals if they are good enough.  So, that narrows it down to two bulls for me.  I Da Man, a son of Who Da Man, a bull I'd love to breed to but can't or Heat Wave or a clone because I can't afford that either.  Both give me what I want for %, eligibility, etc.  Just which one will be a bigger draw when I'm wanting to sell.  Heat Wave can work great or not.  I Da Man has the heifer side covered with sire Who Da Man and and the clubby with Heat Seeker all in one pedigree and is double clean to boot.  I think I just answered my own question.  I thank y'all for listening and your suggestions.  Doesn't mean I won't be looking at Angus the next year.  Just now, I have to stay true to my original goal.
