While we're on the topic of dispersals, I thought I would let everyone know that the Trengove family's Broughton Park Shorthorn herd has also been dispersed.

All of the cows went as a group to the Manchee family's Yamburgan stud. It was a private transaction and has only recently been announced to the public. Another good herd now gone, but at least they have gone as one group to another very reputable breeder. The Trengove's have retained a small commercial herd and will have one last team of bulls for the Naracoorte bull sale in March.

There's some sad days for Shorthorns down under right now!!

I have always admired many of the Broughton Park bulls they sell each year,  so this is another event that is a bit sad. Bit time marches on and dispersals can also be great opportunities for other breeders. Quite frankly, with the drought that many parts of Australia has had in several recent years, I am surprised there are many producers left. Here's hoping you get some great years ahead!

Actually this dispersal isn't drought related, believe it or not. The boys weren't too keen on carrying on with the stud, they prefer to focus on the sheep and cropping operation, so that's why they decided to let it go now.
