Bull or Steer?

Hello I am new to this site and posted this in the help section instead of the Big Show section and was told to post my topic here (thanks Garret). I need some help I am new to the show cattle industry and have a shorthorn bull calf sired by Sin City out of an Oketo daughter. I have no idea wether to steer him or leave him a bull. He was 89 lbs at birth and was born unassisted. I got a really good bull out of this cow last year that was sired by Ace of Diamonds but sadly he died this spring . Here are a couple pictures of my Sin City Calf, so what do you think Bull or Steer?

Steer him, and if he's out of a pretty big cow, start him on finisher when he's 4 months old and hold on, cause he looks pretty cool.

I agree, let him grow and fill out a little before you decide. We have a great bull out of Sin City. He's had some amazing calves and the birth weights have been low.

I only said steer him because Shorthorn Boy said he was new to the industry, and from my experience, it's much easier to sell steers.  If you're looking to keep this calf, winning with a steer you raised is a lot of fun, but then again, if he grows like he should, he would indeed make a cool bull.

We've actually had a blast showing our Sin City bull. He won Grand Champ Shorthorn Bull at Colorado State Fair when he was 6 months old! He's also showed at the Royal and at stock show. The hardest part for us has been keeping him contained. He's not mean but when one of the girls go into heat he finds a way out of the pen. If you decide to keep him a bull just plan ahead how to secure a pen for him.

You have plenty of time to decide to steer him or keep him as a bull. He looks like he would make a really nice looking Bull and have some good calves out of him.

Thanks for all the comments I think that I will wait and see how he fils out and I had actually already planned on getting him on creep feed at 4 months or maybe sooner.

You can put a creep feeder out anytime now.
