What bulls do you think will work well with a Hairy daughter out of a angus cow?

Personally I would breed her back to a Hairietta bull. Someone like king meyer or mommas boy.Your calf would be a double bred Hairietta and a double bred meyer ;)

Thanks.  What else is out of Hairietta, and which one is king meyer?

Here are some new pics of the heifer, she is bred to a just right son out of the birthmark cow for her first calf.

Ok the first picture is of King Meyer(Meyer 734 x Hairietta). The second is of Shock Wave ( Heat Wave x Hairietta) shock wave is also th free. The next is of Show Bussiness aka Superman (Strictly Bussiness x Hairietta). The next picture is Frank the Tank (Irish Whisky x Hairietta) but he is pha positive. The last bull is Gartens 3-D. He isn't a Hairietta son but he is very good and is out of a great angus cow. He is also a Meyer 734 son. I think 3-D work work well.

Do you know where I can see some calves out of these bulls, especially the 3-D bull since I haven't really heard much about him?

Garten's don't really advertise much..and idk why. Their bulls are really good.  Perfect Timing came from them, and we use him a bunch.....I would like to see some calves outta him too tho.

If you are wanting to raise show calvves then I think you might want to use a bull to stouten the calves up a bit. The cow looks finer made and needs some cleaning up through her front end. I tried Shockwave this year. I am not sure if they stuck. I talked with one of the owners. The calves were coming with hair, bone and style. From my minimal exposure to Meyer is when you get alot of Meyer they can be really good or not.

If it were me, Shockwave is a clean son of Heatwave. Heatwave if dirt doesn't bother you. Even old Heat Seeker. Sunseeker seems to click with Meyers adds a tick of bone and hair.

Thanks.  I would like to stay clean and away from the 100 plus pound calves as much as possible.

It gets a lot harder to raise good club calves then. Just saying.....

I'm haven't ruled out carrier bulls  but I would prefer to stay clean for the first couple of years because I will probably keep a heifer if I got one and if it was very good at all, and I would like my heifers to be clean to keep bull options open, but it isn't a necessity.  With the 100 plus pound calves I see no reason to use a bull on a young cow/heifer that is known to have a lot of 100 plus pound calves like heatwave is.

My experience with heatwaves wasn't the weight of the calf but the shape of the calves. they were super stout and had allot of bone shoulder etc. I didn't have huge ones they just calved hard. There are alternatives to Heatwave but he is definitely hot. If you are thinking you want keep females then I would breed for a female. Look at the bulls pedigree for maternal ability. But if you are going clubby that doesn't always coincide.

Thanks for the help.  Do you have any suggestions on bulls that could adds some bone and clean up the front while producing a good female?

To be honest, I think Hoosier Hot Shot would work pretty well.  I've seen a bunch of calves out of him, and the steers are really good, and the females are even better I think.

I don't have pics...but Jerry Vaughn in Indiana raised the bull and has him and a bunch of his calves.  I have a Hot Shot cow, and she is flat awesome.  Won her class at IL State Fair.  His sire, Calberta Hustler would probably work too, but Hot Shot has 734 on the bottom side, so I figured that can't hurt for making females.

I also think that Hot Shot might be a good mating.  I've seen Justin's cow & other than her shoulders being slightly course, she's a very, very nice cow.  I've never seen Hot Shot in person, but the only thing I am not overly wild about in his pictures is his body depth.  However, that may be the pictures because Justin's cow is deep enough.  From what I've seen Hot Shot will pretty one up & thicken one up & that is what this female needs, IMHO.

Naughty Pine might be a good one for her too.

The pics of Hot Shot really don't do him justice....he's an amazing looking bull, and he's going strong and sound this very day...and I think he's like 6.. He looks kinda like the mature pics we've seen of Dr. Who.  Hot Shot is a sleeper bull, and if he were used more, we would be talking about him for one of the hottest bulls IMO.

He might be a little less deep than say, Ohlde's angus bulls, but I saw him this summer, and I sure liked him.
