We just had a new calf born today and we can not figure out where his color came from. His mom is a fawn colored All About You heifer and the sire is a black Power Plus son. The calf is grey and white, so where did the grey come from?

Fawn color = diluter gene and All About You = Shorthorn (aka white) and you used a black bull so there you go. Aren't genetics just wonderful  ::)

Today I was able to get out and handle the calf and I noticed that his hair has two different textures. The grey is real short and curly and the white is straight and long will this change as he gets older?

SKF, We have had a couple of these calves out of All About You and Charolais in our quest for smokie calves.  Some will even out.  Hopefully the curly hair will because it is a bear to train!  If the color doesnt even out in a couple of days.....I'm of the opinion that your little guy will look a little like an old pinto pony!

Post a picture if you can!!!
