Calves in their workclothes!!

Took a few more snapshots of some of our 09 calves this evening!!  Only one of these calves has  ever seen a clipper so their not exactly show ready!!

Thanks guys!!

All the calves have been weaned long enough now that they are really starting to "bloom". 

I'm debating if I should cut the Tonic and Gus calves(pictures 3-4)--sometimes the steers are easier to sell around here.

I don't think I would cut the 3rd calf down. I think he will be a pretty good bull.

Personally I'd cut them. Definitely easier to sell steers than bulls. #3 looks rough in the front to me and #4 I'd like to see a tick longer. Nice calves though, good luck!

While I know this comment is true, it also shows a big difference between the mid west US and where I live. Here in Western Canada, it is easier to sell bulls than it is steers. Years ago, I used to hope for heifer calves, now I am almost to the point of hoping for a majority of bull calves.

We used to have a number of American steer traders make their way through our country every summer and many steers from this country went south and many did very well. This stopped when the border closed during BSE, and it has never really started again when it opened again. There are some Americans looking for calves here, but not to the extent it once was.
